What driving here is actually like

Learning to drive
in Richmond

01

The difficulty is elsewhere. No. 3 Road runs alongside the Canada Line with frequent signals and a great deal of turning traffic, and City Centre carries pedestrian and cyclist volumes that catch drivers who have only practised in quiet suburbs. The Knight Street, Oak Street and Highway 99 approaches are where the real work is: high-speed merging, short weaves and the tunnel, none of which forgive hesitation.

02

The dyke roads and the agricultural east side add narrow shoulders, slow farm traffic and unlit stretches, which is the closest thing to rural driving inside Metro Vancouver.

Areas covered: City Centre · Steveston · Brighouse · Bridgeport · East Richmond.

Highly recommend Harry. He is the best driving instructor you can find in Vancouver. He's knowledgeable, patient, kind, and most importantly, he's always there for you when you need him. I took four lessons with him and passed my class 5 road test on the first try.

I got my class 5 license today. Harry is the most patient and methodical driving instructor I have ever had the privilege of working with. I migrated from Bangladesh 3yrs back. I had no prior driving experience in Canada. I had a license in…

I cannot recommend this driving school enough — and especially my instructor, Harry. I passed my driving test on the first attempt, and the only comment from the examiner was simply: “Great job!” Honestly, I still can’t believe it, and this…
