What driving here is actually like

Learning to drive
in Delta

01

Ladner and Tsawwassen are quiet, low-volume and flat, which makes them useful for early lessons but poor preparation on their own. Highway 17 and the run to the ferry terminal are the counterweight: sustained highway speed, long merges and heavy commercial traffic.

02

The George Massey Tunnel deserves its own mention. Lane changes are prohibited through it, the lighting transition at both portals is abrupt, and counterflow timing changes which lanes are available, all of which reward a driver who has planned the route before entering rather than deciding inside.

Areas covered: North Delta · Ladner · Tsawwassen · Sunbury · Annacis Island.

Highly recommend Harry. He is the best driving instructor you can find in Vancouver. He's knowledgeable, patient, kind, and most importantly, he's always there for you when you need him. I took four lessons with him and passed my class 5 road test on the first try.

I cannot recommend this driving school enough — and especially my instructor, Harry. I passed my driving test on the first attempt, and the only comment from the examiner was simply: “Great job!” Honestly, I still can’t believe it, and this…
