Driving lessons
in New Westminster

New Westminster is the best hill-start practice in the region and one of the hardest places to drive well. The city is built on a slope down to the Fraser, so the north–south streets off Columbia and Carnarvon are steep, narrow, lined with parked cars on both sides, and frequently require you to hold the car on a grade with someone close behind you.

What driving here is actually like

Learning to drive
in New Westminster

01

Add the bridge approaches and it gets harder still. The Pattullo, the Queensborough and the Brunette interchange all funnel traffic through a small street grid, so backups reach a long way onto ordinary residential roads and merges happen at low speed in tight gaps.

02

The older street layout is genuinely unforgiving: short blocks, offset intersections, and lane widths from a century before the cars using them. A student who is comfortable in New Westminster is comfortable anywhere in the Lower Mainland.

Five stars, no exceptions

★★★★★
Highly recommend Harry. He is the best driving instructor you can find in Vancouver. He's knowledgeable, patient, kind, and most importantly, he's always there for you when you need him. I took four lessons with him and passed my class 5 road test on the first try.

I cannot recommend this driving school enough — and especially my instructor, Harry. I passed my driving test on the first attempt, and the only comment from the examiner was simply: “Great job!” Honestly, I still can’t believe it, and this…
